1966 WORLD CUP WINNING ENGLAND PLAYER SIGNED SHIRT COMPETITION – FREE CUSTOMER PRIZE DRAW ENTRY FOR ALL BUYERS OF THE NEW ENGLAND SHIRT
To coincide with the launch of the new England home kit 2009/11 on next Monday, we are running a great customer facing competition (which you can tie in with any new England kit links that you do, which would encourage conversions).
Any customer that buys any of the new England 2009/11 home shirts will be automatically entered into a randomly selected prize draw to win a 1966 World Cup winner England shirt, which has been personally signed by all the surviving England World Cup winning players (namely Sir Bobby Charlton, Sir Geoff Hurst, Jack Charlton, Martin Peters, Roger Hunt, Gordon Banks, George Cohen, Ray Wilson, Nobby Stiles) plus the late great Alan Ball). This fantastic product is supplied courtesy of our friends at Icons.com (see the shirt link at Icons here).
This product retails at £400 (as you would expect it’s very likely to grow in value over time too) and is a great extra way of adding some extra momentum to any new England shirt articles / promotions / links you do on the new England kit. The promotion runs until the 1st May 2009, where the winner will be selected at random from all eligible new England shirt buyers. The signed 1966 England World Cup winning shirt prize is shown below:
England kits over the years .....
Here at Kitbag, we're a very nostalgic bunch, especially when it comes to England and the successes and failures of the national team ........ and whilst we are looking forward to the new England home kit, we've been looking back at the some of the various great (and some appalling !) England shirts of the past with our friends at Footy-boots and FootballShirtCulture.
Many of these kits are available in our England retro football shirt section on Kitbag, with the following shirts being our most memorable ones:

England home shirt 2007/09
With red piping across the shoulders and down the sleeves this shirt was sadly wasted as it was used during the reign of Steve McClaren. The ‘wally with the brolly’ oversaw a disastrous campaign as England failed to qualify for the European Championships of 2008. The former Boro boss failed to outlive the shirt, being replaced after 16 months by Fabio Capello.

England Euro '96 shirt
The Umbro brand and 3 Lions crest was positioned across the chest of this England shirt as the country hosted Euro 96. Football according to Baddiel, Skinner and The Lightning Seeds was apparently coming home. Sadly, not to London as yet again, England’s finest went out in the semis on spot kicks to Germany. England fans were then subjected to even more torture as Gareth Southgate, who missed the vital pen, along with Italia 90 penalty failures Stuart Pearce and Chris Waddle appeared in an advert for Pizza Hut.

World Cup Italia '90 England shirt
The England shirt had a splash of background colour to it for Italia 90 and also the splashes of Gazza’s tears. The England midfielder was at his best in the tournament but a yellow card in the semi finals meant that he would have been barred from playing in the final. He needn’t have worries as England went out on penalties in Turin to; you’ve guessed it, West Germany.

England 1988 Euro shirt
Another German disaster befell the national team wearing this shirt in 1988 as England travelled to the European Championships hosted by West Germany. For England, it was a forgettable tournament as they lost all three group matches, 1 – 0 to the Republic of Ireland, 3 – 1 to a van Basten inspired Holland and 3 – 1 again to Russia. The Championships themselves though were of significance as not one player was sent off, no knockout matches went to extra time or penalties and at least 1 goal was scored in every game.

Mexico 1970 England retro (red) shirt
Four years on, England travelled to the World Cup in Mexico with a third kit which included this shirt. However, it was in the more famous red shirts that that they lost the quarter final match to old rivals Germany 3 – 2 having been 2 – 0 up.

1966 England World Cup Winners shirt
England’s finest moment came wearing this round neck, all red number when they won the World Cup in front of their own fans at Wembley. Geoff Hurst scored a hat trick in it, Jackie Charlton sank to his knees in it, Bobby Moore wiped his hands on it before shaking hands with the Queen and Nobby Styles did a little jig in it.
